Alabama Hotel
Tucked away in Basom, New York, the Alabama Hotel isn’t your average roadside stop — it’s a local gem with a cozy, laid-back vibe that makes you feel right at home. Located at 1353 Lewiston Rd, this spot has been winning hearts with its crowd-pleasing dishes and inviting atmosphere. Whether you're rolling in with a group of friends, out with the family, or just in the mood for some comfort food on a sunny day, Alabama Hotel checks all the boxes.
What really puts this place on the map? The food. One of the must-tries is the Prime Rib — juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. Craving seafood? The New England Clam Chowder is rich and creamy with that classic coastal flavor, and the Broiled Haddock never disappoints. If you’re into bold flavors, the Buffalo Shrimp hits with the perfect kick. And of course, you can’t leave without trying the Beef on Weck, a regional favorite that's messy in the best way.
Beyond the food, the vibe is what keeps people coming back. Think casual dining, moderate buzz of conversation, outdoor seating for those warm Western New York evenings, and a kid-friendly environment that makes it easy for families to settle in. Service is warm and down-to-earth, adding to the overall homey feel.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Alabama Hotel blends great food with an easygoing atmosphere — the kind of place where you might stop for dinner and end up sticking around for dessert and a second round.

We have been to the Alabama hotel 3 times so far. We had the prime rib, the fish fry, the roast beef and the chicken Parm. Everything we had was really good. I especially like the mashed potatoes that come in a cup with hot gravy over them . The salad bar is clean, well stocked and the fresh warm bread is yum. The bar area is nice and everyone was very friendly. They made us feel right at home. We are looking forward to going back again.
Good food, more expensive but everything is now. We eat here with our extended family when everybody is in town (10 people). We told them that after dinner, we were going to see a family member in a show in Lockport. They were sensitive to our need to eat and go, and everything worked out great. The bread/salad bar is decent, got a bit sparse at one point but they got more bread/butter out fast. Long wooden tables, charming. Clean, bright, but also lots of dark wood trim left over from days gone by. There's an adjoining bar, but the atmosphere is very family-friendly. Hope they stay great!
The Alabama Hotel was an awesome surprise. I thought it would be a sketchy dive bar but it was a great sit down restaurant with fresh seafood and better prime rib than the red osier! The prime rib special for two on Thursdays is an amazing deal at $44 for two giant cuts of prime rib and a side. The salt potatoes were good too. I wasn't aware they get their seafood flown in fresh but I saw on facebook that they do. Great service, great prices. The salad bar thing is a little weird though and feels like pizza hut--unnecessary.
When there's lot of cars in the parking lot, you know there's a good restaurant. This.place appears to be a neat local area legend. Recommended. Not the kind of place you need to put on a suit and dress but nice for the area. Range of very good dinner entrees to pub food. Had a very good pan-fried haddock entree. Old school very good salad bar - great options and well done. Friendly staff that know all the locals.
Food is delicious here. One of the best fish fries around but their whole menu is delicious. Staff is super friendly and helpful. We have family members with allergies and they're very helpful and accommodating They also deserve lots of credit for taking in dozens of stranded travelers during the awful blizzard of December 2022 Great place!!
